Gan Gan Lookout

At an impressive height of 160 metres, Gan Gan Lookout on Lily Hill Road Hill is Port Stephens’ pinnacle viewpoint. Perfect for those who don’t like climbing because you can drive to the top and park there. Revel in panoramic vistas that sweep from Newcastle in the south to the Myall Lakes in the north. Wheelchair accessible platforms ensure everyone can enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The short, flat walk leads to a platform where vibrant Gymea Lilies frame the picturesque views of Port Stephens' bays, islands, and towns. There is a gate that locks at 9pm to 5am on some days, however, there’s no actual set days that this happens. I love going here when a storm is approaching as you can get some great views of approaching lightning. Given that there are telecom towers up there it is a bit of a lightning magnet so be aware if you decide to go storm chasing.
